Mr. Pravir Vohra

With a passion to leverage the power of available and emerging technologies to solve real life business issues, improve operating efficiency, design new products and processes that would touch the lives of Indians, Mr. Pravir Vohra joins New Age Markets in Electricity Private Limited’s Advisory Board.

With his unique ability to evaluate technology from a business perspective, Mr. Vohra leverages it to reduce costs or generate combined revenues. Mr. Vohra has immense experience and knowledge in IT architecture, domain expertise in financial products, process re‐engineering, IT operations and strategy and an incredible foresight in the everchanging landscape of today with his stint spanning close to four decades in the industry. In ICICI bank, Mr, Vohra managed multiple functions including the Retail Technology Group, and Technology Management Group. During his tenure here, he came across the deployment of technology across the bank’s branches and was determined to bring in future-ready, independent, and scalable infrastructure. His goal later was to ensure to bring in a meaningful process in the technology with fulfilling the final objective of remaining a flexible, agile and competitive group of ICICI bank.

Post his retirement as Group CTO from ICICI Bank in 2012, he mentored start-ups in the payments space and even completed a 2-year assignment to set up the Tech & Ops function at New Development Bank, Shanghai. He continues to serve on the Technology Advisory Committees of organizations like the Bombay Stock Exchange, NCDEX, Indian Clearing Corporation, SEBI, NPCI and Power Exchange India among others. He is an independent Director on the Boards of Thomas Cook India Ltd., IDFC First Bank, NCML Ltd. & 3i Infotech Ltd. Mr. Vohra has served on numerous technology & functional committees set up by organizations such as the Central Board of Direct Taxes, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIAI) as well as the Reserve Bank of India, the Indian Banking Association and NPCI. He has also served as a nominee director on the boards of Loyalty Solutions & Research Pvt Ltd, ICICI Securities Ltd, Firstsource Solutions Ltd and as an independent director on MCX India Ltd, Quess Corporation and Goldman Sachs AMC (India) Ltd.

Accolades won by Mr. Vohra include The Asian Banker Achievement Award for Technology & Operations in 2006 and the Symantec Asia South Visionary 2008. He was also one of the three CIOs of international banks to have featured on the Information Week's Global CIO 50 List for 2009.

Having completed his post-graduation from St. Stephen’s college, University of Delhi, in Economics, Mr. Vohra is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He began his career with the SBI and worked there for over 23 years. Later, he held various senior level positions in technology as well as business in the bank in India and internationally. He was responsible for the technology function for State Bank's branches in the US and Canada. He also headed the Bank’s Forex Division at New Delhi. With the growing technology, Mr. Vohra focused on enabling to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and pushing competitiveness and developing various products that boost relevance in the market.

Mr. Vohra’s ability to examine technology from the business ideology and enabling it to cut cost, or generate revenue together with the incredible foresight in an ever-growing market landscape is what distinguishes him from others.
